AND SOMETIMES PHOTOGRAPHY
I've always loved stills photography. Away from weddings I often have a camera in my hand, usually just an iphone which I find liberating as it allows me to capture the world as I see it, very simply and with the minimum of equipment.
Recently I've adopted a more minimal style to my filmmaking. On a wedding day my main kit consists of two small cameras a few clip on microphones and a compact tripod. I believe this approach allows me to focus more on what's happening, I'm able to move and react quickly to the fluid events of a wedding day, concentrate on the people and be more creative.
I'm an advocate of classic filmmaking, good composition, use of natural light and movement are timeless principles that create and preserve authentic moments more than video trends, that said and with my editors hat on I love cutting hard and fast to a full on dance track.
I've had some incredible feedback about the wedding videos I produce. I shot my first wedding for a friend and after watching the film she turned, with tears of joy in her eyes and hugged me saying, thank you. It is a genuine joy to film a wedding day and then to produce a lasting memory. I was honoured to be shortlisted for the The Wedding Industry Awards recently and scored near perfect tens across all categories here is what some of My couples said -
