Instead of a new year's retrospective I thought I'd take a look at where I've been and where I'm going next.
2017 was a mile stone year, I embraced the wedding world with a full on bear hug, giving up the security of long term contracts, I buffed up my brogues, packed my stylish yet practical camera bag and headed out into a glorious wedding season.
March: First up and before any wedding videography, the Shoot Joy Photography Workshop hosted by top pros, Cass Lane and Ayesha Rahman this was a great confidence booster and a fantastic learning experience for me, shooting a little promo video for them.
In June I got the great thrill of my first destination wedding, in Tuscany! Thanks so much to Emma and Rob, they just got what I do and gave me such freedom to shoot their wedding along side the uber talent Lelia Scarfiotti
Summer then got a little crazy with Kate and Colin's DIY style Tipi wedding and then shooting weddings all over Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. I got to shoot at the fantastic West Mill with it's chique industrial stylings, Heaton House with panoramic views across the Cheshire plain and at the prestigeous Peckforton castle
As the season ended I headed north, way up north (not that one) all the way to Inverness and Achnagairn Castle and epic venue for an epic wedding. I finished 2017 and started 2018 in great style at Iscoyd Park what a beautiful venue and it was bathed in sunlight on New Years eve watch out for the highlight film...
In the last year I've learnt three important lessons as a wedding videographer. Comfortable shoes are a must, a backup snack needs to be in your bag at all times and that talking to your dog will keep you sane during long edits.
